Koi’s foster mama says she’s “a little thicker than a Snickers” — and honestly, this happy girl would probably agree. Koi loves life, loves food, and loves being part of the action. Whether she’s exploring the yard, following her people around the house, hanging out with other dogs, or curled up on the couch for cuddle time, Koi is simply a joy to have around. She’s incredibly friendly, well-mannered, and has clearly been very loved throughout her life.
Like many pugs, Koi’s biggest challenge right now is her weight. She is currently too overweight to safely undergo anesthesia for a recommended dental procedure and future evaluation for possible soft palate surgery. The good news is that healthy weight loss alone can make a huge difference in breathing, comfort, mobility, and overall quality of life for dogs like Koi.
Because of her ongoing medical needs, Koi must be adopted within the greater Seattle area and looking for a family committed to helping her continue her health journey.
Her future family must be willing and able to travel to our primary veterinary clinic in Bellevue, Washington for multiple follow-up appointments related to her care — including rechecks, evaluations, and future procedures. We anticipate at least four veterinary visits may be needed as part of her continued medical journey.
Koi will be adopted out with two medical adoption addendums — one related to her future dental procedure and one related to possible soft palate surgery should it ultimately be recommended after weight loss and re-evaluation. We'll talk more about all of this with her future family before any adoption agreement is made.
Most importantly, Koi is a wonderful dog who deserves a family ready to love her exactly as she is while helping her become the healthiest version of herself.
