I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Sage

We're happy to tell you that Sage has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Sage is 1-year-old pug who is learning just how good life can be. He can be cautious at first, especially with new people, quick movements, or unfamiliar sounds, but once he knows and trusts you, Sage absolutely comes alive. He is playful, curious, affectionate, and loves frolicking around the yard and being part of the fun.

And this little guy LOVES his people. Sage happily curls up in his foster’s lap and gives the most adorable “doggie hugs”—jumping into her lap, wrapping his front legs around her neck, and nuzzling his head beside hers. Once you’ve earned his trust, there is no shortage of affection!

Sage is also one smart little pug. He is well trained, knows his potty manners, knows “sit,” and is doing great learning his other basic commands. He is very food motivated, which certainly helps with training—and the sound of a treat bag is one of the quickest ways to get those little ears to perk up.

Sage is currently fostered with his mom, Nutmeg, and they share a special mother-son bond. They can absolutely be considered for adoption together, but we also believe separate homes could give each of them an opportunity to blossom in their own way. Sage can be an attention hog when affection is being handed out, while his quieter mom is more likely to step back and let him have the spotlight.

For Sage, we are looking for a home with a confident, well-adjusted pug companion. Not a dog who will boss him around, but one who can show him the ropes and help him understand everyday life. A car door outside might mean someone is coming home. A new person walking through the door is someone to investigate. An unfamiliar noise doesn’t have to be scary. Having another dog calmly model those everyday moments can help Sage continue building his confidence.

Sage has already come so far, and every day we see a little more of the happy, silly young pug inside him. He may need some patience while he gets to know you, but once you become one of his people, prepare yourself—because one of those Sage hugs just might be coming your way.
