Evergreen Pug Rescue Adoption Policy for Out-of-Area Applicants

Evergreen Pug Rescue is based in Washington state, with most of our foster dogs are located in the greater Seattle area, Ellensburg, Yakima, and Spokane. While we do adopt dogs to homes outside Washington state, there are several important considerations when making these decisions.

Travel Requirements for Out-of-Area Adoptions

  • Picking Up Your Pup: Out-of-area adopters must be willing and able to travel to pick up their new pug. Since we are 100% foster-based and do not have a physical facility, "here" means meeting the foster family in their home or at a mutually agreed-upon location within the state of Washington.

  • If the Adoption Doesn’t Work Out: If the adoption isn’t a good fit, it is the adopter’s responsibility to return the pug to Evergreen Pug Rescue. The pug must be returned directly to us and cannot be surrendered to another rescue or shelter.

Unable to Travel to Washington?
Unfortunately, if you are unable to pick up your new pug locally, we are unable to proceed with the adoption. We’ve found that when out-of-area adoptions go wrong, it becomes too challenging to manage returns, especially as an all-volunteer organization. We recommend adopting through a rescue closer to your home to avoid these complications.

Do We Ship or Transport Dogs?
No, we do not ship or transport dogs. If you’re willing to fly to Washington to pick up your pug, that can work, but please note that not all dogs are suitable for air travel due to size, anxiety, or other factors. If air travel is necessary, adopters must arrange and pay for a health certificate, which is typically required for flying and can be obtained after adoption.

Why Are These Policies in Place?
We share this information not to discourage you but to remain transparent and honest about our process. Additionally, most of our dogs receive strong interest locally, and we strive to make decisions based on what’s best for each individual dog. Factors such as travel logistics are considered when evaluating equally great applicants.

Our goal is always to ensure the best outcome for every dog, and we appreciate your understanding and interest in Evergreen Pug Rescue!
