Evergreen Pug Rescue Stray Policy
At Evergreen Pug Rescue, we understand that dogs may sometimes wander off. Our primary goal is to reunite every stray with their rightful owner.
Evergreen Pug Rescue Will:
Hold all strays in accordance with state regulations for 30 days, except where superseded by city or county laws, in a safe and loving Evergreen Pug Rescue foster home. All foster homes are approved, trained, and insured by Evergreen Pug Rescue.
Take proactive steps to identify the owner, including checking for a microchip, posting on local websites, and notifying nearby shelters.
Provide emergency care upon recommendation of licensed veterinarian.
Return the stray to the owner upon verification of ownership through appropriate documentation (e.g., photos and veterinary records).
Notify and collaborate with local shelters and animal control services to ensure compliance with all requirements.
Maintain detailed records of all strays in our care.
Evergreen Pug Rescue Will Not:
Hide strays. Our primary mission is to reunite strays with their rightful owners.
Adopt out a stray before the mandatory hold period is complete.
Perform elective medical procedures (e.g., spaying or neutering) that could permanently alter the dog, unless necessary to ensure the dog's survival. Unaltered strays will be kept separate from other unaltered animals during the hold period.
